AWS CloudFormation Updated Support for AWS KMS, HAQM EC2 Spot Instances, HAQM ECS, and HAQM Elasticsearch Service

You can now provision aliases in AWS Key Management Service (KMS). An alias creates a display name for a customer master key. Visit here to learn more.

CloudFormation has also updated support for several existing resources:

  • HAQM EC2 spot instances: Specify a bid price for a specific instance type that you want to provision using the SpotPrice property
  • HAQM EC2 Container Service (ECS)
    • Create a name for an ECS service cluster
    • Specify the IAM role that ECS should use to call AWS APIs on your behalf
    • Register a task definition to a specific family
  • HAQM Elasticsearch Service (HAQM ES): Specify which version of Elasticsearch to use
