We are excited to announce that HAQM Route 53 health checks now support endpoints with Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) addresses. Last month, HAQM Route 53 began rolling out support for DNS queries over IPv6. With today’s release, customers can now use HAQM Route 53 health checks to monitor resources with IPv6 addresses.

Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) is a new version of the Internet Protocol that uses longer IP addresses (for example, 2001:0db8:85a3:0000:0000:8a2e:0370:7334) than the previous version of the protocol (for example, 192.0.2.44). With IPv6 support for health checks, you can configure DNS failover and health monitoring of endpoints that have IPv6 addresses, which allows you to monitor IPv6 connectivity to your applications.

Getting started with HAQM Route 53 health checks and DNS failover is easy. To learn more, visit the HAQM Route 53 product page for full details and pricing, or see our documentation.
