HAQM EC2 Container Service (ECS) now supports the ability to run tasks on a regular, scheduled basis and in response to CloudWatch Events. This makes it easier to launch container services that you need to run only at certain times.

Previously, you could start and stop HAQM ECS tasks manually, but running tasks on a schedule required writing and integrating an external scheduler with the HAQM ECS API.

Now you can schedule tasks through the HAQM ECS console on fixed time intervals (e.g.: number of minutes, hours, or days). Additionally, you can now set HAQM ECS as a CloudWatch Events target, allowing you to launch tasks by using CloudWatch Events.

For more information on scheduling tasks with HAQM ECS, please see the documentation here.
