HAQM EC2 now offers License Included (LI) HAQM Machine Images (AMIs) for Microsoft SQL Server 2017 with Ubuntu and HAQM Linux 2. These AMIs add to the list of previously launched SQL Server 2017 AMIs with Windows Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux, giving you more flexibility to run SQL Server workloads on your preferred operating system in HAQM EC2. To get started with SQL Server on Linux, you can follow the steps listed here

These AMIs, along with the previously announced .NET Core on HAQM Linux 2 and Ubuntu AMIs, make it easier for you to modernize .NET and SQL workloads on free Linux-based operating systems, without the need to buy Windows Server licenses.

You can launch SQL Server 2017 on Ubuntu Server 16.04 and HAQM Linux 2 Candidate 2 instances on-demand using License Included (LI) AMIs directly from the HAQM EC2 console. The AMIs are available in all four editions – SQL Server Web Edition, SQL Server Express Edition, SQL Server Standard Edition, and SQL Server Enterprise Edition. You can also bring your own SQL Server 2017 licenses (BYOL) to HAQM EC2 instances running Microsoft Windows, Ubuntu, HAQM Linux 2, RHEL and SUSE Linux, or to Docker containers running in HAQM EC2.
