HAQM Lex is now a U.S. Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) eligible service. Customers can now use HAQM Lex to process user input that contains protected health information (PHI).
HIPAA Eligibility applies to all AWS Regions where HAQM Lex is available. If you have a HIPAA Business Associate Addendum (BAA) in place with AWS, you can now start using HAQM Lex for your HIPAA eligible workloads. If you do not have a BAA in place with AWS or have any other questions about running HIPAA-regulated workloads on AWS, please contact us. See the Architecting for HIPAA Security and Compliance on HAQM Web Services Whitepaper for information and best practices about how to configure AWS HIPAA Eligible Services to store, process, and transmit PHI. For more information regarding HIPAA and HAQM Lex communication considerations, see the HAQM Lex Administration Guide.
HAQM Lex is a service for building conversational interfaces using voice and text.
