The SMS channel in HAQM Pinpoint is now U.S. Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) eligible. You can now use HAQM Pinpoint to send SMS messages that contain protected health information (PHI).

HIPAA eligibility for the SMS channel applies to all AWS Regions where HAQM Pinpoint is available. If you have a HIPAA Business Associate Addendum (BAA) in place with AWS, you can now start using HAQM Pinpoint for your HIPAA eligible workloads (excluding voice messaging workloads).
