You can now develop your AWS Lambda functions using custom runtimes on HAQM Linux 2, the latest generation of HAQM Linux. You can read more about the custom runtimes in the AWS Lambda documentation

HAQM Linux 2 provides a secure, stable, and high performance execution environment to develop and run cloud-native applications. With HAQM Linux 2, you get an application environment that offers long term support with access to the latest innovations in the Linux ecosystem, at no additional charge. 

To get started, upload your code through the AWS Lambda console and select provide your own bootstrap on HAQM Linux 2 runtime. You can also use the AWS CLI, AWS Serverless Application Model (SAM) and AWS CloudFormation to deploy and manage your serverless application authored in custom runtimes. Also, Lambda Runtime API and Lambda Layers can be used to enable developers to build custom runtimes on HAQM Linux 2. To migrate existing AWS Lambda functions running in custom runtimes on HAQM Linux 1 to HAQM Linux 2, update your code to be compatible with HAQM Linux 2, and then update the function runtime.
