HAQM Redshift, the most widely used cloud data warehouse, now enables a secure and easy way to share live data across HAQM Redshift clusters. Data sharing enables instant, granular, and high-performance data access across HAQM Redshift clusters without the need to copy or move data. Data Sharing provides live access to the data so that your users always see most up-to-date and consistent information as it is updated in the data warehouse.
With HAQM Redshift data sharing, you can rapidly onboard new analytics workloads and provision them with flexible compute resources to meet their workload-specific performance SLAs while allowing them to access common data. Data sharing allows you to share live, transactionally consistent data by leveraging HAQM Redshift managed storage across different clusters without the complexity and delays associated with data copies and data movement. Data sharing enables seamless collaboration across business groups for broader analytics and to analyze cross-product impact. You can securely share data at many levels including schemas, tables, views, and user defined functions, providing fine grained controls that can be tailored for different consumers that all need access to data. Users and groups that have access to shared data on consumer clusters can discover and query the data with high performance using standard SQL and analytics tools. With data sharing, workloads accessing shared data are isolated from each other. There is no additional cost to use data sharing on your HAQM Redshift clusters.
Sharing data across HAQM Redshift clusters is available for all HAQM Redshift RA3 node types as preview in regions US East (Ohio), US East (N. Virginia), US West (N. California), US West (Oregon), Europe (Frankfurt), Europe (Ireland), Asia Pacific (Tokyo), Asia Pacific (Sydney), and Asia Pacific (Seoul). Learn more about data sharing with announcement blog and refer to documentation for instructions on how to get started with the preview.
