HAQM DocumentDB (with MongoDB compatibility) is a fast, scalable, highly available, and fully managed document database service that supports MongoDB workloads. As a document database, HAQM DocumentDB makes it easy to store, query, and index JSON data at scale.

HAQM DocumentDB continues to increase compatibility with MongoDB and today added support for the following MongoDB APIs and indexing improvements in DocumentDB 3.6 and 4.0:

  • renameCollection: Administrative command used to rename an existing collection
  • $natural: Query modifier that perform a collection scan to return the results of a query in natural order
  • $indexOfArray: Aggregation operator used to search an array for an occurrence of a specified value and return the array index (zero-based) of the first occurrence
  • $reverseArray: Aggregation operator used to reverse the order of the elements of the specified array
  • $zip: Aggregation operator used to transposes an array
  • Ability to use an index for the API distinct() for non-multikey indexes
  • Ability to use $hint to force a specific index plan for update queries
