AWS Backup, now, by default, creates crash-consistent backups of HAQM EBS volumes that are attached to an HAQM EC2 instance. Customers no longer have to stop their instance, or coordinate between multiple HAQM EBS volumes attached to the same HAQM EC2 instance to ensure crash-consistency of their application state.

AWS Backup enables you to centralize and automate data protection across AWS services, such as HAQM Elastic Compute Cloud (HAQM EC2) instances, HAQM Elastic Block Store (HAQM EBS) volumes, HAQM Relational Database Service (RDS) databases (including HAQM Aurora clusters), HAQM DynamoDB tables, HAQM Elastic File System (EFS), HAQM FSx for Lustre, HAQM FSx for Windows File Server, and AWS Storage Gateway volumes and helps you support your regulatory compliance obligations.

For more information on where AWS Backup is available, see the AWS Regional Services List. To learn more, see the AWS Backup product page and documentation. To get started, visit the AWS Backup console.
