HAQM RDS Proxy, a fully managed, highly available database proxy for HAQM Relational Database Service (RDS), now supports HAQM RDS for SQLServer running on major versions 2014 and later. Using HAQM RDS Proxy, customers can make applications more scalable, more resilient to database failures, and more secure.
HAQM RDS Proxy sits between your application and the database to pool and share established database connections, improving database efficiency and application scalability. For HAQM for RDS SQL Server Multi-Availability Zone databases, HAQM RDS Proxy automatically connects to the standby database instance in case of a database failure, preserves connections from applications, and helps reduce failover times by up to 83%. With HAQM RDS Proxy, database credentials and access can be managed through AWS Secrets Manager and AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM), eliminating the need to embed database credentials in the application.
You can enable HAQM RDS Proxy for your HAQM RDS for SQL Server database in just a few clicks on the HAQM RDS console and connect to the database by pointing your application to the RDS Proxy endpoint. View our documentation or read our blog post to get started.
