AWS launches HAQM EKS managed node groups for Windows containers to automate the provisioning and lifecycle management of Windows nodes (running on HAQM EC2 instances) for EKS Kubernetes clusters. With this launch, Windows-based applications will automatically provision and register the HAQM EC2 instances that provide compute capacity. Now customers can create, automatically update, or terminate the Windows nodes for their cluster with a single operation.

A managed node group can be provisioned for Windows nodes as a part of an HAQM EC2 Auto Scaling group that's managed for customers by HAQM EKS. Every resource including the instances and Auto Scaling groups run within customers' AWS account, while each node group runs across multiple Availability Zones that are defined by the customer. There are no additional costs to use HAQM EKS managed node groups, you only pay for the AWS resources provisioned. To learn more about EKS Windows managed node groups and how to get started, visit the EKS public documentation.

AWS offers a variety of Windows container services. Visit our public documentation for HAQM EKS to learn more about running Windows containers on AWS and visit public AWS Regions to learn about regional availability.
