HAQM Relational Database Service (HAQM RDS) for Oracle now supports physical data migration via Oracle Recovery Manager cross-platform Transportable Tablespaces (RMAN XTTS). As of today, you can migrate sets of tablespaces to RDS for Oracle using Oracle RMAN XTTS to simplify movement of large amounts of data and reduce application downtime for a physical data migration.
Using RMAN XTTS, you can create a backup of one or more tablespaces from a source Oracle database. You may then perform incremental backups of the source tablespaces to update the staged backup until you are ready to migrate the data into RDS for Oracle and cut over your applications. HAQM Elastic File System (HAQM EFS) offers integration with HAQM RDS for Oracle to provide an ideal staging location for these backups and may be mounted by both the source system and your target RDS for Oracle instance simultaneously to simplify migration operations and minimize application downtime. Using RMAN XTTS, you may migrate data from source Oracle databases hosted on Linux or Unix environments supported by Oracle RMAN XTTS, including where endian conversion is required, to RDS for Oracle instances running the Enterprise Edition of Oracle Database.
To learn how to use RMAN XTTS to migrate your data to HAQM RDS for Oracle, see the documentation. HAQM RDS for Oracle makes it simple to set up, operate, and scale Oracle database deployments in the cloud. See HAQM RDS for Oracle Pricing for up-to-date pricing and regional availability.
