HAQM DocumentDB launches index improvements enabling faster index builds on collections and the ability to view index build statuses. HAQM DocumentDB index builds can now be sped by up to 14X when using parallel workers compared to using a single worker. The index creation process now uses two workers by default, and you can configure the number of workers on HAQM DocumentDB 4.0 and 5.0 instance-based clusters.
To get detailed insights into the index build speed and the current progress, you can now use existing APIs to retrieve indexing status metrics, such as the total number of keys to be indexed, and the number of keys already indexed at different points in time. The new index build status is now available on DocumentDB 5.0 instance-based clusters.
