Today, AWS announces the general availability of HAQM Relational Database Service (HAQM RDS) for Db2, which makes it easy to set up, operate, and scale Db2 databases in the cloud. HAQM RDS manages time-consuming database administration tasks, such as provisioning, patching, backups, recovery, failure detection, and repair, so you can focus on applications and business.

With HAQM RDS for Db2, you can deploy a Db2 database on scalable hardware in minutes with automatically configured database parameters for optimal performance. To set up a highly available Db2 database, you can create a Multi-AZ deployment in only a few steps, which synchronously replicates data to a standby database instance in a different Availability Zone. You can migrate your self-managed Db2 workloads to HAQM RDS using AWS Database Migration Service (AWS DMS) or native Db2 tools. Also, if you have existing IBM Db2 licenses, you can use the Bring Your Own License (BYOL) model to run HAQM RDS for Db2 instances. HAQM RDS for Db2 is available in most AWS Regions: see availability.

Get started by using the AWS Command Line Interface (AWS CLI) or AWS Management Console. To learn more, visit HAQM RDS for Db2, documentation, and AWS News Blog for additional details.
