Four New AWS Case Studies: ESA, PBS, Ericsson, Bioproximity

Our customers are doing all sorts of interesting work on AWS. We’ve been working with them to produce a number of AWS Case Studies so as to better spread the word about how cloud computing and AWS are changing the world. Here are the latest case studies:

European Space Agency – The Data User Elements Program collects data about the planet that is used by various agencies and organizations around the world. The program houses some of its data and end-user products in HAQM Simple Storage Service (HAQM S3). In addition, the program uses HAQM Elastic Compute Cloud (HAQM EC2) to analyze its service usage statistics.

PBS – PBS, a private, non-profit corporation, provides content through television, the Web and mobile applications. PBS Interactive, the department responsible for PBS Internet and mobile presence, improved its video streaming performance by migrating to HAQM Web Services (AWS) to utilize the content delivery service HAQM CloudFront and increase its existing usage of HAQM Simple Storage Service (HAQM S3).

Ericsson – Ericsson is the world’s leading provider of technology and services to telecom operators. The company’s portfolio comprises mobile and fixed network infrastructure, telecom services, software broadband and multimedia solutions for operators, enterprises and the media industry. The company uses HAQM Elastic Compute Cloud (HAQM EC2), HAQM Simple Storage Service (HAQM S3), and the RightScale Cloud Management Platform for provisioning and auto-scale functionality, as well as hosting in multiple HAQM Web Services (AWS) locations with failover between installations, partly based on RightScale features.

Bioproximity – Bioproximity provides proteomic analytical services for pharmaceutical companies and academic organizations. The company uses Cluster Compute Instances for HAQM Elastic Compute Cloud (HAQM EC2), HAQM Elastic Block Store (HAQM EBS), and HAQM Simple Storage Service (HAQM S3) to run its complex analysis processes and search algorithms.
