SCADA Disaster Recovery on AWS for Inductive Automation’s Ignition
HAQM Web Services (AWS) is pleased to release a new workshop, SCADA Disaster Recovery on AWS for Inductive Automation’s Ignition to help support users who are seeking implementation guidance on setting up an AWS cloud-based disaster recovery environment for their Ignition SCADA by Inductive Automation. The workshop offers a step-by-step approach to help utility companies design and implement a cloud-based disaster recovery and failover environment.
Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) is a critical component of any utility’s operations, be it for distribution, transmission, or generation. SCADA is how utilities control their operational environment and collect data in real- or near real-time for operational awareness and for planning generation and grid operations. SCADA is one of the most critical systems in a utility’s operations and must be secure, reliable, and resilient.
Modern day Operational Technology systems face not only threats such a flood, fire, storms, and earthquakes, but also cyber threats such as malware and ransomware. A cloud-based disaster recovery option offers utilities more resilience and increased reliability.
The workshop describes and demonstrates key concepts for users who are considering a cloud-based disaster recovery environment for their Ignition SCADA and provides the source code for creating this environment on AWS under an “MIT No Attribution” MIT-0 open source license on GitHub. Users can get a jumpstart on building a disaster recovery environment using this workshop and can modify and extend the source code to meet their specific requirements.
