Strengthen federal space resilience with AWS Ground Station

In this post, we explore how AWS Ground Station public sector organizations with on-demand access to AWS-managed antennas that are available as shared or dedicated resources, scaling to the unique requirements of the mission. By adding resource capacity and redundancy with AWS-managed antenna systems, government customers can rapidly increase, differentiate, and distribute their ground segment capabilities. This enables a more flexible and resilient space architecture that can dynamically adapt to changing mission demands.

Test and integrate ground segment with AWS Ground Station digital twin

HAQM Web Services (AWS) customers building software-defined ground segment solutions with the AWS Ground Station now have more confidence in their solution: they can integrate their DevOps practices with AWS Ground Station’s digital twin feature, which became generally available in August. The digital twin is useful for both aspiring and existing AWS Ground Station customers to achieve faster outcomes without applying for satellite licensing and more cost-effectively than scheduling a production satellite contact. Agile satellite communication ground systems with HAQM EC2 F2 FPGA solutions

In this post, we provide technical guidance to help satellite operators build, deploy, and analyze satcom waveforms on HAQM Web Services (AWS). Details are provided about the orchestration of multiple waveforms, including an example of one HAQM Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) Image being swapped in for another. We analyze the FPGA utilization and metrics in HAQM CloudWatch and HAQM QuickSight, and validate network performance against system latency requirements. Finally, we recommend actions you can take to build an agile satcom strategy.

AWS announces Satellite Resiliency for AWS Outposts

Satellite Resiliency for AWS Outposts offers a comprehensive, Partner-managed solution for resilient cloud-connected edge computing that extends the reach of HAQM Web Services (AWS) to the most remote and geographically dispersed environments on earth. AWS Outposts typically run connected to a parent AWS Region for resource management, access control, and software updates. When terrestrial network connectivity between an Outpost and its parent AWS Region is unavailable, this solution routes traffic back to the parent Region over a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite connection, supporting business continuity and data residency requirements.
