Resources for military spouses on Military Spouse Appreciation Day

On Military Spouse Appreciation Day, we want to acknowledge the significant contributions, support, and sacrifices of military spouses worldwide. For military spouses, finding employment can be a challenge. To help prepare military spouses for roles in technology, HAQM offers no cost training for US military spouses, transitioning military, and veterans through its AWS Educate initiative.

AWS Educate announces its inaugural Student Ambassador cohort

Today, AWS Educate announced the first cohort for the AWS Educate Student Ambassador Program. The AWS Educate Student Ambassador Program provides student leaders from around the world the opportunity to gain real-life experience while helping their peers gain valuable AWS technical skills to develop successful cloud careers. Through a competitive process that showcased member academic and extracurricular accomplishments, the selected inaugural cohort contains 326 members from over 50 countries and more than 250 higher education institutions.

Empowering the next generation of cloud talent in Colombia with SENA and AWS Educate

At the end of 2019, el Servicio Nacional del Aprendiza (SENA) in Colombia graduated 160 students after completing AWS Educate Cloud Career Pathways to build their IT and cloud technology skills. This was the first group of students to graduate after Colombia’s President Iván Duque Márquez and Jeff Kratz, General Manager AWS Public Sector Latin America, Caribbean and Canada, announced a strategic partnership with SENA to train 10,000 students throughout Colombia in IT and cloud technology.

AWS Educate mobilizes global educator network to support remote learning with no cost resources

To help the global education community during a period of increased remote learning, AWS Educate is launching an “Educator Mobilization” initiative to provide resources that support educators as they migrate to virtual instruction. Launching the week of April 6th, resources will include webinars hosted by educators who are members of AWS Educate with expertise teaching in online classrooms, as well as virtual office hours.

AWS skills up new builders at HBCUs during Black History Month

To nurture future diverse leaders in technology during Black History Month, AWS worked across the United States to educate the next generation of students on cloud computing, cloud career opportunities, and how to excel in the technology industry. AWS Educate and the Americas-based AWS solutions architecture team worked together at Bowie State University during a two-day, student-centered event near HAQM HQ2. Almost 150 students from the technology and security, computer science, and management of information systems departments came to learn about the AWS builder culture, AWS Educate resources, and early-career technical roles through Tech U.

AWS Educate collaborates with Project Lead the Way to bring cloud education to K12

AWS Educate is now a Project Lead the Way (PLTW) transformative partner. As a transformative partner, AWS Educate and PLTW will provide access to cloud computing educational content for K12 students across the United States, including those in low-technology schools. The collaboration means more K12 students can now access AWS Educate cloud computing curriculum through PLTW’s network of more than 12,200 elementary, middle, and high schools.

AWS Educate Cloud Ambassador Program expands to college students

Starting today, the AWS Educate Cloud Ambassador Program is now available to college students around the world. Now students can also apply to participate in the program to receive exclusive benefits and opportunities from HAQM Web Services (AWS). The AWS Educate Cloud Ambassador Program recognizes individuals for their innovation and contributions that prepare students for careers in the modern technology workforce.

Supporting veterans in STEM careers

Last week, the bipartisan Supporting Veterans in STEM Careers Act (S.153) was signed, which will assist veterans re-entering the workforce and encourage veterans to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). At AWS, we’ve developed a number of programs focused on engaging the military community, helping them gain AWS technical skills, and develop successful careers.
