Deploy an OutSystems 11 factory comprised of 4 environments (LifeTime, Development, Test and Production) in AWS.

    CloudFormation Template (CFT)

AWS CloudFormation templates are JSON or YAML-formatted text files that simplify provisioning and management on AWS. The templates describe the service or application architecture you want to deploy, and AWS CloudFormation uses those templates to provision and configure the required services (such as HAQM EC2 instances or HAQM RDS DB instances). The deployed application and associated resources are called a "stack."

    Usage instructions

This offer enables you to deploy an OutSystems 11 Factory with four environments.

Provide a /24 CIDR to deploy the resources.

Provide your desired DB master admin password and an EC2 key pair to access the Windows Application Servers.

Provide the password of the 5 SQL users that will manage your OutSystems databases.

Provide your desired OutSystems Platform admin password and the OutSystems cache host admin password.

All these credentials will be stored for you in Secrets Manager.

The EC2 instances part of this product require an outbound internet connection to deploy properly. PowerShell Package Provider NuGet and PowerShell Module OutSystems.SetupTools are downloaded and installed on deployment. A PowerShell script is downloaded and executed to automate the setup of the OutSystems Platform. AWS CLIV2 is downloaded and installed for the two Production Environment EC2 instances.

The Production environment EC2 instances require a connection to a provisioned S3 bucket to exchange files. In order for the EC2 instances to have access to the S3 bucket, an IAM Role and an IAM policy will be provisioned and attached to the Production EC2 instances. An additional IAM Role will be provisioned for RDS monitoring capabilities.

To access the platform get the public IPs of each provisioned EC2 and access the environment using http://<EC2PublicIP>/servicecenter. This will work for all environments except Production, where you need to get the load balancer endpoint.

Great tool for non-tech industry fighting for scarce tech talents

What do you like best about the product?
OutSystems has provisioned all necessary toolbox required for a full stack development pipeline, saving significant manhours in setting up, maintaining and finetuning CI/CD pipeline, conducting performance monitoring, and software code review. This is great news for non-tech industry that is trying to digitalise its business, as we are fighting for scare talent with digital native giants, and outsystems allows us to build and scale with rather small tech resources.
What do you dislike about the product?
The new ODC has yet matched all functionalities of existing OutSystems 11.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
OutSystems has been the backbone of our company's back office digitalisation, which includes transformation of our HR, Finance, Corp Logistics, and many other corporate "highway" processes. It creates significant cost saving and user experience improvement in our back office eco-systems.

You can build applications easily, with O11 it isn't state-of-the-art, but with ODC it should.
