great insights from otherwise neglected logs
What do you like best about the product?
the ease with which logs are accessed and read to gain valuable insights. interactive charts and bars provides good visual experience. Splunk DB connect is also one of the good feature . splunk email alerts is life saver
What do you dislike about the product?
Hard to create index on network path. it is difficult to clear cache once the dashboard is loaded. splunk dashboard needs to be refreshed by closing out all the sessions
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
we have created production jobs status and monitoring dashboard. we no longer manually check failed jobs manually as we have created splunk alerts for this purpose

What do you like best about the product?
Splunk is really helpful for business monitoring different aspects of your business. It also can used for data analytics which is important when making decisions that can affect the organization.
What do you dislike about the product?
Splunk can sometimes be a bit clunky. There are slow response times and getting access to use the cloud based site can sometimes be difficult.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Monitoring key data points as well as having drilldown capabilities to give additional insights.

Its nice to have the numbers all in hand. Sometimes its not updated to the minute but i guess thats okay.
Incredible Analytics Tool
What do you like best about the product?
Splunk has many features since I'm using it as its very useful while accessing analytics report of specified time period for specific type of pattern which insists in your server log. Very useful while extracting request and response log in block of XML's. There are still lot's of thing which can't be explained in such few words but I would suggest if you use it for once then you will forget everything.
What do you dislike about the product?
Ah, Really is there anything which you don't like? from my perspective simply NO. I appreciate hard work of Splunk team memers for the awesome interface and design pattern for getting your requirement fulfilled.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I used it for production log, analytics report for error pattern and error failure rate.
Best tool for log analysis and extraction of servers log
What do you like best about the product?
I loved this tool for log extraction directly from the server and those shortcuts which is used to filter servers logs are very useful. Easy to get all the information at one place only like host, server name, source , folder , path information etc in just a single click.
What do you dislike about the product?
Copy mechanism is not that much good because if you copy one block of log first it takes very time and fluctuate the screen so I didn't feel very good while copying logs directly from splunk.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I used it specially for communication log withing two or more than two application system. Request and response log we get along with full header and body message.

What do you like best about the product?
The visualization and reporting ability of Splunk. The ability of splunk to assimilate any quantity of data. The chance that it gives to reduce the incoming data whenever there is a warning of license usage than the procured one. it does this through multiple warning before a violation happens. the encription mechanism it follows.
What do you dislike about the product?
Most of the time , a restart is required. The performance will be very worst if we dont know to configure the Splunk environment. to configure a splunk environment it needs greater knowledge on splunk tool. When other tools are compared, the knowledge required is very less and it is mostly click next go and go but this is not the case with splunk. it needs to improve on the usability side. though splunk has huge capabilities but most of the features dont come out of the box. we have to achieve it by writing a spl query or take the help of scripting.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Infra monitoring and log monitoring. File monitoring, syslog monitoring, cloud monitoring, data reporting, finding rca using spl, creating data models. providing event management solution using splunk itsi. Integration with Servicenow for ticketing on the alerts or notable events on the critical services. Splunk is being used to integrate with multiple other AIOPS tools like dynatrace, moogsoft, solarwinds, appdynamics, sciencelogic to build a aiops story or use case. this applies to multiple veriticals.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
though splunk license looks costly it becomes cheap in the case of more usage. the benefits of splunk is very huge. so please consider on the side of feature that splunk has.

The best part is to correlate events that cause failures using the correlation id.

Splunk is revolutionary tool for tracking logs, showing summary in Dashboard. Splunk quick and easy
What do you like best about the product?
It's way for searching the logs based on the multiple parameters and showing items in the left hand side, which enables us to add in the search query by just one click.
What do you dislike about the product?
Writing queries is bit complex. If a UI can be provided for that, it would be great and then additional feature or clauses can be added in the search index.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We were not able to see the logs for a particular times, it was very hard to track the problems but when we used it. It changed our life by providing so simple way to search the logs. It searches the logs too quickly. Even Million lines of the logs can be taken in few seconds.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Its very good tool for analyzing the server logs. It's alerting process is super cool. It keeps tracking of all the logs and it it will see a particular error in the logs, it will send you and mail/message. It's very fast in searching the logs for a longer window.
