Best way to keep analytics from getting out of control

What do you like best about the product?
Clear view of what happened with analytics events
What do you dislike about the product?
There is no clear development/production separation for sources. It would be nice to be able to create a source with debug and production configurations without having to create multiple sources.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Lack of visibility to Analytics people of what is actually being sent.
Less debugging imaginary issues from Analytics people, easier to debunk false theories.

What do you like best about the product?
- Extensive catalog of data sources and destinations
- Minimal maintenance is required once set up, and new sources or destinations are required
- High availability
- Ability to handle scale
- Convenient debugging and event testing tools to assist with configuring sources and destinations
- Segment includes support for idempotency, so you won't need to worry about retries corrupting your data if you have failures
What do you dislike about the product?
- I can't find analytics on tracked events in Segment
- When changing the event type in the event tester, the previously entered user identifiers are cleared, slowing down identify/track debugging
- Segment doesn't have a "identify and track" message type, although it is possible via batching requests
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I used Segment a lot in my previous job. I also use it occasionally in my current job and have been happy with it in each case. With Segment, we no longer require engineering time when the marketing team needs to add or replace analytics providers. Segment has a nice clean API and good documentation, so it's easy for engineering teams to work to implement. Moreover, page loads are faster because we don't have to embed many different tools into our frontend; instead, we add Segment once, and all the processing happens behind the scenes.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Anonymous user identifiers can be helpful if your organization has registered/unregistered users. Also, use the messageId field if request retries are possible in your system, as Segment uses this field to ensure idempotency.

What do you like best about the product?
We have 2 big use-cases for Segment:
- event-based communication: we use Segment -> Vero connection for our emailing and push-notification strategy
- customer-behavior tracking: we push Segment events into our data warehouse and enrich our BI dashboards with those data points
What do you dislike about the product?
Pricing has become steep for us! In the last month, our bill has become very expensive (we operate in brazil, and the $ is very expensive). The $700 bill is almost prohibitive.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Event-driven communication and customer behavior tracking.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's a great tool to have from day 1 at your business! I love that I can discovery many other companies through Segment plataform.

When things go wrong, debugging is a pain. Support requires painful documentation, unwilling to help beyond standard template.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Event forwarding from multiple sources - frontend / backend /web / app to multiple places without building own pipelines.

Segment is amazing!!

What do you like best about the product?
- Segment was easy to set up and integrate with our website, mobile app, backend service, chatbots, etc., as the origin.
- Some plugins facilitate integration with various frameworks and programming languages. For example, in NuGet for asp.net, download the segment package and voila, the same with the npm node js, for instance.
- You can send data to multiple destinations simultaneously, for example, mix panel and google analytics, which is very good.
- It has integration with practically any data analysis platform you can imagine.

For us, it is a complete and excellent product.
What do you dislike about the product?
- It is pricy!! The monthly cost is absurdly high, especially in big projects, since the price is based on the number of single users tracked per month.
- Debugging is not consistent and at higher traffic, it works worse and worse; sometimes it's hard to debug or know what's going on if something goes wrong.
- Navigating through the interface is tedious when you have to switch multiple times between sources and destinations.

Segment makes data easy, and because of the tool's quality, it comes at a cost. The benefit is it does scale with you because the price plan works on MTUs. But it really depends on the size of your business. Beware not to over-enable and connect too much if you are not using it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Through the segment, we can integrate all our services (from different providers) in various programming languages and platforms in the same channel, monitor our users to improve our applications, and implement use cases related to the client's needs. Currently, without this tool we would not be able to improve our products and satisfy the customer.
It also allows you to integrate this with different platforms such as Google Analytics and the Mix panel to observe graphs and funnels on user behavior.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The segment is the best tracking tool due to its ease of use, available integrations, and developer tools. If money is not an issue for you, do not hesitate to purchase this service.

What do you like best about the product?
Very rich in integrations, a vast library of support tools, and a straightforward and structured onboarding program.
What do you dislike about the product?
As with any powerful platform, setting up Segment does take time, and anyone who is planning on using it should have enough time dedicated for the process.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are gaining the ability to track our user behavior without making considerable changes to our platform. We will be able to understand better our customers' behavior allowing us to gauge their health correctly and derive important analytics to improve our platform.

Take your time to understand the platform correctly and to think through what you need to use Segment for to ensure a smooth onboarding process

What do you like best about the product?
The segment is an excellent tool for giving shape to Raw data, collecting the and sending data from various resources. The best part about the segment is it allows you to re use the raw data.

Sometimes, it creates problems while resuing the Raw data but that also can be managed

We do not have to use multiple tools to share or send the data, it has everything that you need. Integration is also very easy

Quick and easy data routing

What do you like best about the product?
Segment allows us to quickly and efficiently route our data from production to various other locations such as mix panel or S3 as needed. Currently, all our required platforms are supported.
What do you dislike about the product?
It works as advertised, so I honestly don't have any complaints.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
When data we want captured or desired events occur on our platform segment allows us to capture them and route them to the necessary services and storage locations. If we didn't have a tool like this, we would have to write custom integrations for everything, significantly increasing the development time.
