What do you dislike about the product?
the product has been improving over the past years.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Zero-based budgeting, Allocation model for business, FP&A
Best in class solution for complex financial planning and analysis
What do you like best about the product?
Anaplan is an amazing dimensional modeling tool. It has a very powerful calculation engine allowing you to calculate at speed and scale. Its best application is for driver-based planning and connected planning. Its a user-focused tool that is that has a very excel-like feel.
What do you dislike about the product?
The reporting capability is not as strong as some BI tools, however, it does have native connectors for Power BI and Tableau. Making enhancements can be challenging if it is a complex solution as the calculations are always on.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are solving data trust issues as we are now allowing the business to have one source of truth for data and modeling that can be trusted. Additionally, we are creating more value by spending less time in our planning process.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure your data is ready and you completely understand your business process.
Say goodbye to Excel
What do you like best about the product?
Anaplan allows for an enterprise approach to planning and forecasting, allowing for collaboration while maintaining consistency in approach, calculation, and reporting. Manual Excel process can be eliminated in favor of scaled Anaplan models that allow for controlled access and user role-driven experiences.
What do you dislike about the product?
While the UX has advanced greatly this is not a BI or data visualization tool, the power of Anaplan is in the calculation engine and the collaborative modeling capabilities. No native multi-select functionality and conditional formating can be a bit clunky.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Dispersion of sensitive information in a controlled manner (selective access), the connection of disparate teams on a single platform, reduction in forecast process timelines.
solid FP&A planning tool
What do you like best about the product?
This tool was a significant first step to the finance team getting reporting in a digestible format to distribute to our partners. We were able to present and pivot the data along the GL levels easily, as well as sync data from other sales and operation sources to analyze. Also amazing version control
What do you dislike about the product?
It's not the best for headcount monitoring. It's very manual and you can easily mess up entries. It's hard to just upload and replace with new cost, headcount, and new open hires.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
benefits: version control, able to create many views and breakdowns, clean look
downside: very manual, needs a dedicated person to maintain and setup, restrictive format for data input
downside: very manual, needs a dedicated person to maintain and setup, restrictive format for data input
Highly collaborative and customizable modelling software
What do you like best about the product?
How customizable it is. Companies can replicate their business processes with minimum to no compromise. It is one of the few tools on the market (with Excel) with this level of customization.
Anaplan is probably second only to Excel in project development time, it is incredibly fast.
Finally, given that it is a formula-based tool, there is no scripting needed so anyone can pick it up.

What do you dislike about the product?
The user interface. Even though Anaplan has invested a lot of time and effort over the last couple of year to improve it (new user experience, management reporting,...) I don't believe it's quite there yet.
Simple things are still missing.
Additionally, proper workflow capabilities need to be re-introduced (Anaplan did release a v.1 in 2020).

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Problems: siloed business processes, difficulties to consolidate the figures, multiple data sources, manual calculation/template errors, no audit trail, no data security
Benefits: time savings, live consolidated figures, single source of truth, accurate and correct calculations, advanced audit and security capabilities
Benefits: time savings, live consolidated figures, single source of truth, accurate and correct calculations, advanced audit and security capabilities
Highly recommended Financial Planning tool with great product features
What do you like best about the product?
Anaplan's constantly evolving features added on to its core functions
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the newly introduced features were buggy. Could benefit from additional testing
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Data centralization and alignment across the business. Planning and forecasting sales.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Ideal to work with an Anaplan Partner for your first implementation.
I have used Anaplan since 2014 and implemented Anaplan since 2017.
What do you like best about the product?
Anaplan is a great tool to create forecasting models in. It allows end users a single source of truth and the ability to see real time update to their assumptions.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sparsity is an issue, which results in having to build models using flat/concatenated logic which is overly complex. If sparsity wasn't an issue the models can be easier to implement and easier for end users to adopt.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Various problems. I have used Anaplan for FP&A forecasting for business unit P&L's which included driver based forecasting models for Cost of Sales and Distribution expense.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Ensure you allow adequate time to implement Anaplan. Companies tend to underestimate the amount of time and the number of resources it will take to implement Anaplan which results in the creation of suboptimal models and/or low end user engagement.
Connected planning and scenario analysis
What do you like best about the product?
Anaplan provides a stable environment that copes with big data sets well. I also love how easily models can connect and share data, elminating spreadsheets from our planning process. Anaplan is always adding new features and enhancements to the platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
A desire for employees to want to learn Anaplan modeling skills is key to a successful implementation unless there is a central function for model maintenance or dedicated Centre of Excellence.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Anaplan is a great alternative to Excel. It has allowed us to streamline processes and reduce modelling error risks. Coinnected planning, where data can easily be shared between models, has eliminated the need for Excel files when consolidating business unit results into the Group Budget.
