Powerful Planning Tool
What do you like best about the product?
The new user experience creates a very nice UX for end users. Anaplan has proven to be a great tool for end users looking to consolidate multiple excel models into one place. End users really enjoy the easy of use and simplicity of anaplan over their previous processes. The recent roll out of workflow is going to be a major improvement for end users and something long requested.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it can be challenging to get users to give up on excel and make the switch to Anaplan. There are some features long requested by the community that Anaplan has yet to implement. Dashboarding could benefit from the ability of more customization.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I've worked on comp planning, management fee, FP&A, cost allocations, carried interest, and real estate development implementations using Anaplan. It has proven to be a very useful tool over a wide variety of use cases.

Highly adaptable to the business process with the ability to easily connect multiple business functions across an organization.

Lack of real time integration with source systems.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Supply Chain, Territory Quota, Finance planning uses cases. Planning cycle times have decreased across all departments along with faster and more accurate internal alignment
A Connected Planning Journey for Financial Services
What do you like best about the product?
Anaplan is a cloud-based analytics platform that allows users to connect a wide range of data sets and use cases into a complete ecosystem for users. Anaplans best features relate to its planning flexibility, robust calculation engine, and its high-speed processing capability.
What do you dislike about the product?
Anaplan offers a wide range of features, however as a piece of software, they will sometimes bring features to launch slightly earlier than advisable, which can cause early rejection for something that will grow into a solid offering.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Anaplan has effectively plugged the technology gap that was so often previously held together by a vast range of slow and data siloed excel spreadsheets. Anaplan allows users to cement a wide range of processes into a system with clear rules and auditable controls.
Working previously as a business and financial analyst, I really see the benefit & need for Anaplan.
What do you like best about the product?
Data hub used to aggregate multiple sources of data. In addition, the connected planning of "linked excel pivots".
What do you dislike about the product?
Data Integration could be cleaner and easier to use. Dashboarding could use some additional formatting features.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
No longer need to have multiple versions of a file. Don't need to update formulas for the new month by dragging everything across in Excel. Big time saver.

Talk with a Anaplan partner vs Anaplan sales rep to better understand needs and size requirements.
Game Changer
What do you like best about the product?
For me, the most helpful aspect of Anaplan is its ability to summarize plan updates real-time. The modeling capabilities are easily transferable from your base excel knowledge.
What do you dislike about the product?
Dashboarding in the classic view was cumbersome. Our implementation was done prior to Anaplan's new UX and transitioning from classic dashboards to the New UX is not the quickest thing to do.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The biggest problem we solved with Anaplan was standardizing our annual budgeting process. We went from thousands of Excel files to one platform where all our budgeting was done. This helped prevent different finance teams from building their own methodologies for the budget and aligned all of finance.
More time spent analyzing data than building, updating, and troubleshooting an excel report.
What do you like best about the product?
Its consistency and dependability. Reports cannot be corrupted by a user like an excel workbook can. The frameworks of reports are maintained and a data refresh populates them with the latest information.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are some limitations that requires demanding work arounds. An example of a limitation is the inability to combine line item subsets to enable the synchronization feature.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Most projects I service are FP&A planning projects. The biggest benefit is having a centralized location for users to plug in their information through their custom planning methodology and consolidating it with others for real time results.

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to implement. It takes short time to implement complex functions with Anaplan. For me developing Anaplan is easier and faster than developing excel.

What do you dislike about the product?
>It's easy to implement Anaplan, but it's easy only for trained Anaplan developers. It doesn't mean in-house production is easy. If you are an Anaplan customer and want to maintain in your company after Anaplan partner had developed, you need to take enough time to complete Anaplan training.
>Anaplan is a cloud solution. Please do not expect the same response speed with Excel. So that, it's not a good idea to use Anaplan only to input data.

Our customer had planed proper production volume by themselves.
We created logic to calculate the production plan and implemented it with Anaplan. Now, what our customer needs to do to plan production volume is only wait for the interface from SAP and log in to Anaplan. Every month, they see all necessary data for production automatically.
With Anaplan, I can implement complex logic like this in a short time. If we had implemented this logic with excel, the excel file would have been too complex to understand and often froze.

If you could clearly define the data you'd like to watch, any data visualization is possible.
Anaplan NUX is beautiful. You can also use Anaplan for presentation, you don't need to use Powerpoint anymore.

What do you dislike about the product?
As the platform is being exposed to diverse businesses, there are lots of suggestions about functionalities. The community provides an update to its roadmap, and the Platform keeps on evolving.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
1) Inconsistency of reports. Having different versions of the spreadsheet is one of the pain points of the business users. (Addressed by Anaplan as we can have ONE SINGLE TRUTH of data)
2) Bulk of data. Business users frequently experience crashed applications because the spreadsheet can no longer handle the data load. (Anaplan can handle big data)
3) They cannot let go of the forecast versions because they need different drivers and scenarios to get the best forecast. (Anaplan can store all scenarios, and business users can submit the final forecast)

Anaplan for Capital Markets
What do you like best about the product?
Anaplan is an exceptional modeling tool. Once the data is set up, it provides the flexability to rapidly develop models, easily pivot data vies without changing the underliyinf data and integrate with other systems. Additionally, it provides connected planning, which is an easy, efficient way to bring together people, processes and data. All while being secure and cloud based.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like to see more formula development, such as adding new formulas or updating existing formulas to work in new ways.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have solved various use cases with Anaplan, everything ranging from FP&A and supply chain to complex financial metrics like IRR, MOIC, and custom waterfall calculations.

Anaplan is an exceptional modeling tool and excels at that. Think about how it fits into the rest of your ecosystem.

What do you like best about the product?
the flexibility of Anaplan means it can be used for so many different use cases across industries and businesses
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the Application Lifecycle management features for pages and dashboards aren't as complete as it is for the model building experience yet but this has improved recently.
