The Entrprise Planning Tool you've been waiting for
What do you like best about the product?
The flexibility of the platform allows for excellent scalability and possibilities for solutions.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is a clean slate platform that allows for ultimate flexibility but also means nothing comes "out of the box." Everything is custom and takes time to design and build.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have been a part of solutions in Anaplan regarding Sales Performance Enablement, Technology Costing, and Management Reporting.
Using Anaplan, we have gotten greater clarity and insights into the data allowing Management to make more informed decisions and automation of reports saving endless hours of excel hell.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Get out of Excel hell and into an actual enterprise tool. Anaplan has been a great solution to work in that provides incredible flexibility and scalability.

Innovative, Problem Solver, User Friendly Planning tool
What do you like best about the product?
Anaplan product implementation period for any business areas like Finance, Sales, Supply Chain and HR is very less compared to other platforms. Anaplan has a lot of exciting features that make the end-user happier. Highly secured, cloud-oriented, scalable and intuitive platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
In technical terms, there should be an option to copy the entire model data from one version to another version and from one period to another period. Currently, the 'Bulk Copy' option only helps to copy the data from version to version but this needs to be time-dependent as well. No more to say!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have used Anaplan for different domain areas which include, FP&A, S&OP, Demand Planning, TQM, Production Planning, Workforce & OPEX planning, GTN process etc. It makes it interactive and more intuitive. The end-users are highly satisfied and their business process is now 4x times faster.

I have used Anaplan for a wide variety of use cases, spanning P&L Forecasting, workforce expense planning, consolidations, and several other topics.

Anaplan's largest value, in my opinion, comes when organizations implement and integrate several use cases together. As you consider Anaplan, I would suggest thinking not just about your current needs, but how Anaplan can help transform the larger organization in the long term.

* A cloud base collaborative platform means there is no need to email files to colleagues and everyone is viewing real time data
* Easy to learn and intuitive platform with natural language syntax and a customisable user interface. With no particular IT background, I found it easy to learn as an experienced Excel user
* All the data in Anaplan's hyperblock is like a giant pivot table meaning reports and tables can be repivoted with different dimensions in a few seconds

* Anaplan has a limited (but fast improving) range of formatting options
* Anaplan is a sophisticated platform and it can be tricky for end users to drill-down through some calculations
* Model building requires skilled and experienced resources which can be hard to find, although the Anaplan community is growing fast.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I work in finance and have implemented Anaplan for FP&A, overheads cost allocations, and long-term contract accounting. It is an extremely flexible tool with a large number of potential use cases beyond finance. The key benefits realized are shorter model turn-around times, primarily made possible through less manual intervention and less manual error. With much greater confidence in the results, this frees up time to interpret results and have better conversations with the business.

Model sizing limits and lack of alt hierarchy
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Excel-based models are slow because of their size and interlinked, meaning that forecasting has to occur at a higher level and is a genuinely manual process. By using Anaplan, the worry of speed to forecast and sending sensitive information over emails/slack/webchat goes away, while having a codified view of the calculations brings everyone onto the same page as to how we get to a number.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's a great tool to deliver time to value in forecasting models. Still, I'd be wary of the cost of the product, concerns around the sizing of the model, and no ability for alternate hierarchies.
Given that, I'd say many products out there have similar issues in some way, shape or fashion, however Anaplan does bring a modern maturity to the forecasting real of tooling.

Exceptionally flexible, quick and agile implementation. AIf done right, the platform has the potential to truly change how planning is done.
What do you dislike about the product?
Anaplans biggest downfall is their pricing and business model in general. You pay for users and space. So space is valuable. Anaplan models easily get very large if you are not careful. Saving space as much as possible sometimes results in overcomplicated architecture. Basically you have to do workarounds to save space which means longer implementations and difficulties maintaining models.

Numerous use cases. We have brought more visibility and intelligence into our process. Anaplans biggest value is in bringing processes and people together.
Anaplan is the best EPM platform
What do you like best about the product?
Anaplan is the only cloud-based vendor that offers "true" connected planning. Anaplan can solve nearly any use case. Typical use cases are HR, Capex, OPEX, Revenue Planning, Operations planning, Consolidations...These use cases are connected together like Microsoft Excel connects Workbooks for "real time" results. Users can see the results of What-if calculations instantaneously. Calculations are written in simple "Excel" like syntax. No coding is required. In addition, Anaplan is a true multi-tenant cloud provider providing upgrades monthly so that all users are always on the latest version.
What do you dislike about the product?
My only complaint with Anaplan is the requirement to design around sparsity in order to deliver models that perform well. However, Anaplan has addressed this and is soon delivery a new calculation model that addresses this issue. The company is always innovating.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
EPM tools should be evaluated using the CRAMP Model ( Consolidations, Reporting, Analytics, Modeling, & Planning). Anaplan receives 5 stars in each of the areas and allows connected planning across the entire Enterprise ( HR, Operations, Finance, Supply Chain, Manufacturing...)
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I am a certified architect in 4 EPM tools. Anaplan offers the fastest time to implement and is the most uncomplicated maintenance. In addition, Anaplan provides more functionality than any vendor out there, all in real-time.
