Lacework Review

  • February 17, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Overall, Laceworks customer support has been very helpful when Learning how to use this tool. Laceworks user interface is very straight forward and easy to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing at the current moment that I can say I dislike about Lacework. So far I have had a pleasant experience using the tool and am likely to recommend it to others.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Lacework is helping our organization with Cloud Security, Cloud Compliance etc. It also provides real-time alerts of vulnerabilities, and it classifies them as well, which is very nice.

Very useful for us, we were able to reduce and maintain our infrastructure at low risk

  • February 17, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
- The search tool
- Very detailed info, event including things like the docker layer introducing the vulnerability, or the jar library that we used to update services and use latest dependency versions with fixes.
- Alerts
What do you dislike about the product?
I see email alerts are very noisy and sometimes I lost track of what was reported exactly, so at the end I'm ignoring these emails.
I didn't check if there are some alternatives like Github interactions to report issues in the repo directly, or JIRA integration, this is something I don't manager really, there's another teams in charge of the Lacework configuration.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have many services running in our k8s cluster, and a lot of them explosed publicly, so Lacework is very useful to indentify potential and new vulnerability and keep these services up-to-date with quick actions as simple as updating dependencies, or taking in consideration some network issues.

Lacework is a great tool for managing cloud and container workloads and securing them

  • February 17, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
One of Lacework's key features is its ability to detect and respond to threats in real-time, thanks to its use of machine learning and behavioral analysis techniques. This means that potential security issues can be identified and addressed before they can cause harm to the system, providing peace of mind to IT team and their organization
What do you dislike about the product?
There's a lot of information and features in Lacework's user interface. You'd have to spend some time learning it, so you don't get lost. This would make it easier to find the category or alert you are looking for.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Its ability to detect and respond to threats in real-time. This means that potential security issues can be identified and addressed before they cause harm to the system. Moreover, IaC scanner helps resolve issues before they even reach the cloud infrastructure. When a pull request is submitted, it runs a vulnerability scan.

Very good UX and navigation on the platform

  • February 17, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
From the beginning, I was able to intuitively navigate on the platform to my desired information. The menu is similar to other monitoring platforms. The product behind it is strong, a lot of automation comes out of the box and Lacework plays in the upper echelons of offering integration or forwarding of data to other platforms.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think the default compliance dashboards are very good and useful, however it would be nice to be able to build completely custom dashboards for specific UseCases.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The question of where to start in terms of security is answered very well by Lacework. It supports and guides you in an all-encompassing analysis and resolution of security issues.

Cloud Security Posture with ease

  • February 17, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Lacework offers a lot of tools that one would otherwise employ a stack of different softwares. It massivly helps our organisation to handle infrastructural threat intelligence, Cloud Security Posture, Cloud Compliance and Security Asset Management.
Their support is very service oriented and always in best interest of the customer
What do you dislike about the product?
The false positives often requires manual rework. Also there are some features like Jira integration missing that would be desireable. But the Software is always improving and new features are coming all the time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Lacework is our solution for CSPM, continous development in a secure manner, enforcing a shift left policy for infrastructure as well as cloud and container security

2. It uses machine learning and behavioural analytics to identify potential security threats and vulnerabilities and provides real-time alerts to security teams
3. The platform is easy to set up and use, with an intuitive user interface and automated workflows.
What do you dislike about the product?
1. Lacework focuses more on workload protection, whereas Prisma Cloud provides a broader range of security features, including cloud security posture management and compliance monitoring.
2. Lacework lacks granular control over security policies and allows for more customisation and configuration.
3. Prisma Cloud offers more detailed reporting and visibility into security posture is lacking in Lacework

It’s like having a real polygraph

  • February 17, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The lacework polygraph let's us know proactively whenever somethint happens that doesn't happen normally. We have identified our cloud billing provider intermediary accesssing our VPCs by username and location in the world within seconds of it occurring for instance.

This sort of insight on outliers gaining access to your private internal cloud networks is critical to identify and contain breaches. I wish this technology existed in 2009 when I worked for an MSP hacker by a Chinese military state actor.

I'm confident that polygraph can reuse the cost of beeches like this by many degrees.
What do you dislike about the product?
I've not found major downsides to the product.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Intrusion detection. We haven't had an intrusion yet. But we have identified suspicious traffic and know what to follow up on.

Wonderful product, wonderful support

  • February 17, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Lacework really gives their all in implementation, support, and everything else. Their service has helped us gain visibility we'd never experienced before on our cloud environment and they gave us wonderful recommendations on how to bring our security to the next level.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the features we needed were not available on our initial setup. A majority of these have been addressed however, and it's really awesome to see our feature requests being implemented!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Prior to starting, we didn't have very much visibility into our cloud environment. This made security audits a bit daunting. Lacework has made security reviews easier and made us more proactive with security measures.

Positive review on Lacework

  • February 16, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the Machine learning to reduce noise and I like the context or topology that it gives us after an alert.
Implementation time is very short and easy. It is a new generation of Security tool.
What do you dislike about the product?
It probably does a lot of work to replace the SOC but at the end, there will still be a bit of work for that. It is so powerful that it will take us time to learn it more.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mainly to not hire a SOC but I does bring us up to good maturity with minimum effort. I can't see how we would have done this otherwise with that speed. We still need a SIEM.

Awesome insights

  • February 16, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It gives me insight into security vulnerabilities I would not have found on my own.
What do you dislike about the product?
It would be good to integrate it with a threat perspective. This could help prioritize the alerts and give context about their severity.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is helping detect security threats before they become a larger problem.
