Fast restores, even faster backups

  • February 18, 2021

What do you like best about the product?
We moved from an MSP tierd backup solution. I didnt realize how slow that service was until I tried Veeam. Speed is everything when you want to recover from a backup.
What do you dislike about the product?
The UI isnt very intuitive, I wish they'd spend more time on the wizards and verbiage. Sometimes I have to re-read a screen several times to be sure I know what I'm doing is right.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed a fast offsite backup solution. What we used before took hours and used a lot of our bandwidth. With Veeam we were able to reduce the time our uploads take by 70%
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This is a great product, its easy to manage and easy to setup. Just spend some time reading online documentation.

What do you like best about the product?
Interface is designed with simplicity in mind but offers a wide array of features. Awesome product in a great package.
What do you dislike about the product?
Ease of use, fantastic support and knowledge base.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We used to use a clunky and expensive hardware backup solution, Veeam eliminated the need for dedicated backup hardware and saved us a ton of money. Implementing 3-2-1 backups was no problem with Veeam.

Easy to manage and just works

What do you like best about the product?
Out of all backup solutions that we have used, Veeam has been the easiest to use/maintain. The setup was seamless and it has not required us to fix any issues since we started using it. It is also the cheapest option that we found.
What do you dislike about the product?
The setup process was lengthy. It took 2+ hours for the initial setup and configuration. However, since then, we have not had any disruptions to our backup service.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our previous backup service frequently failed because of various issues. Veeam has solved all of those issues and has been flawless ever since the installation.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
During your consultation with the sales rep, make sure you cover all current and planned future assets that will require backup so that your licensing is tailored to your current and future use. The licensing is very inexpensive so plan ahead.

Reliable backup solution

What do you like best about the product?
Backup and replication jobs creation is very straightforward. We can create backup jobs, and replication jobs as well as tape jobs. We can schedule backup jobs as we want. The portal clearly shows the status of backup jobs. So it is easy for us to determine if there is an issue. The reporting feature is excellent and offers a brief description of all backup jobs in the past several months. The backup restoration process is also easy. We were able to restore a backup without any issue.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes customer service response time is slow, and it needs to be improved. Need to improve service level agreement about providing technical support quickly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
When considering data centre backup solutions, Veeam backup and replication are among the best solutions in the industry. We have critical data, and so needed a reliable backup solution. Otherwise, it will be a disaster for us if the datacenter failed and we have no backups. After conducting many kinds of research, and based on recommendations, management decided to choose Veeam backup and replication. They provided a reliable backup solution for a reasonable price. Pre-sales team is ok, and the deployment team did a great job according to our infrastructure and requirements. When considering technical support, there was some time to provide a solution quickly. As of today, we never faced any significant issue with this product, and overall experience with this product is excellent.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You can customise the solution according to your requirements and the infrastructure.

What do you like best about the product?
The interface is very user/admin friendly, has a very good in-built deduplication engine, one of the few software packages that i can give honest 10 out of 10. Great support too.
What do you dislike about the product?
Honestly not a single thing that I can say is bad with this software...
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Backing up both datacentres, service desk file request recoveries, disaster recovery, 3-2-1 backups

Awesome Backup Solution!

What do you like best about the product?
Veeam is very easy to setup and use. I installed it on my server and setup my Backup Repository on a NAS and my backup nodes easily right from the server. Multiple configuration options are available to cover any need. Options to store on the cloud as well. I have used many backup solutions over my 35 year career in IT, Veeam is excellent in every aspect.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much to dislike about Veeam, maybe a slightly easier interface, some options are a bit buried but a quick look at the manual or google search did the trick. (I had to move my backup configuration file which was not easily found)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Backup many nodes from one console
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try the Community Edition and find out for your self.

Veeam is a robust and affordable backup solution for VMs and Physical Servers

  • October 27, 2020
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Price, features and reliability. Great value compared to Acronis.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lack of VMWARE Workstation and older VMWARE VM Products
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Backing up a plethora of VMs and Physical Machines onsite
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Consider Veeam before alternatives like Acronis - you will get the same features for 1/4th the price. Doesn't leave a large footprint on servers either.

Must have for backing up virtual machines

  • October 09, 2020
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Having used Veeam at a couple of different organisations, I have been very happy with the product. Mainly using the virtual machine backup tools, I find that this is simply a must have for virtual environments. The granularity of the restores is particularly helpful, especially when dealing with large file systems. The GUI for the B&R app is simple to use and setting up new back up tasks is pretty straight forward. It does take a little while to get used to how they set up their backups, using the 3 2 1 method, but once you have an understanding of that, it become vital to the backup operations. When compared to other backup products I've used from other vendors, the choice to me is quite clear to use Veeam. I've found other backup products tend to have clunky UIs and sometimes unreliable backups. I'm also a fan of backup to disk and cloud over tape, which often can cause it's own problems. The speed of restore from Veeam is another benefit that I've found to be really helpful, as often when a user reports a file is missing they need it back immediately. Something that's not always possible when dealing with tape backups, even though Veeam can do that as well. I had used this previously to back up physical machines as well, when dealing with older 2003 servers that had yet to be decommissioned. That resolved a lot of headaches to keep us going through until they were migrated.
What do you dislike about the product?
They can sting you with their support contract pricing. It's important to keep on top of that otherwise you'll end up with a large bill.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's used for the general day to day backup of most servers and provides an easy way to restore files.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Check the terms on the support contracts and it works best if all your servers are virtual.
