I think IBM Cognos support is quite poor use case documentation

Cognos Analytics is a good tool overall
What do you like best about the product?
Cognos is a good enterprise tool, security works well to a point and with the new developments is easier to use than ever before.
What do you dislike about the product?
IBM took away fix lists which enabled people to justify the upgrades necessary, The support process needs work as currently it is not an easily accessable tool and the development team can take 10 days to reply! the IBM Cognos Analytics tests are a joke based on old versions that require out of date knowledge.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It enables us to use our CRM data to better make decisions quickly.

I think the downside of Cognos Analytics is the step to start is big. Not every user will understand the product fast.

We're helping our customers get insides in there data and help the transform to a data driven organisation.

I find the reports to be pretty customizable. Many cost center departments liked the reports

Upgrades require manual labor intensive work. Report writers have to know cognos. Reports could take a long time to generate. One of the problems is the cost. The cost of the tool and the cost to train report writers. Companies want to move away from cognos.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I worked on projects to take legal reports off of old access reports and use cognos. Cognos was customizable but each report needed a report writer. Each report generation was not instantaneous while being developed

What do you like best about the product?
The best thing is "Quality reports can be run at any time and by any representative with a substantial log-in at IBM Cognos Analytics.The AI enabled exploration and dashboard capabilities are easy to use and exceed expectations

It is not simple to use. User has to get the formal training to utilise it to maximum extent. Report pulling is not that much fast. It take quite some time to load and display.

It is AI driven, improves the business outcomes.It enhances decision making.Overall it improves business agility.

Slow adaptation of new features and fixes form the official support.
Development do not much listen for community enhancements ideas - more then 2 year to get the feature to implementation.

Reporting in bank. Parametrize reporting solution for couple of countries.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Great for enterprise solution to have all in one. You can reuse the data source through the platform. Do not believe so much to Gartner quadrant. There are not so many equivalent products. I have tried other two of the top and Cognos overall was the best. I am looking forward for AI (Watson) and ML included into the reporting and Self-service.

The software is good for Standard Reporting as well as Adhoc Reporting and the ability to generate useful reports and dashboards on demand across multiple sources is invaluable also combining multiple queries in one report to create your desired report
What do you dislike about the product?
Cognos Analytics can be hard to learn how to use. You have to really understand your data first so that you can figure out how to make the tool do what you need it to do. Interactive pdf is not available for reports. Can be difficult to implement without admin support for end users.

BM Cognos is an excellent tool, frequently used as for a business environment, since the functionalities it offers are very useful, mentioning that it allows its users to enter the platform and change the report in a way adapted to their environments. convenient the way they want to see, without changing the data that is provided to all as a whole, highlighting that I love it since it is a software capable of creating cubes and packages that can be used to extract exactly what you need to visualize in specific in your group you work for.
What do you dislike about the product?
The system does not present a good quality in the graphics of the images that can be created in this platform, including the changes of the pictures, which likewise require an update for complete visual satisfaction, rectifying that the software contains several packages of different functionalities, each of which are high-cost, it would be of great support if these prices were not so high, especially for large-scale economic savings.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Cognos in our organization in general terms, as a business intelligence tool for the generation of continuous and high-end reports, which provide us with quite feasible and consistent information on every aspect and issues that the system can compromise, based mainly as a priority before our clients, to provide them with a complete service, in matters of analysis, so that they create and distribute this information in a more appropriate way, as well as for better knowledge and decision-making.

Cognos is ideal for corporate reporting and analytics in which departments that are based in the IT role, create these benchmarks of information and batch dashboards in near real time, especially if you need to configure these formats analytics, in a faster and guaranteed way in every aspect, with a low margin of incoherence, this software offers all the necessary tools to establish an effective work once implemented in a particular platform.
