Cognos Analytics - All you need for Modern Business Analytics, for any kind of user, everywhere
What do you like best about the product?
In Cognos Analytics you already have "in the box" all best features, in calculations, graphics and trends, for any business need. The development environment, even for complex customized reports, is really easy and intuitive, and mapping any kind of data source is powerful, to get the perfect data integration. The user experience is excellent, with ease of use for any professional skill, with a few days of education. Moreover, you may sent reports by email to external users on a time basis. Mobile environment for reports is very complete and performing. Another important issue is security of information, based on single user profiles, managed by administrator of Cognos environment. IBM support is pretty good, and the web Knowledge Base very useful
What do you dislike about the product?
The cost of licenses might be lower, in comparison with other competition products. The support annual fee is expensive too. At the beginning the creation of new reports can require a stronger effort than other tools. The creation of multidimensional cubes might be improved in some features, especially as regards the data distribution. New version Cognos 11 had some UI changes that have made some navigation more complex than before; so some functions had to be done manually, this was a big trouble at the beginning of new installation, some user were really unsatisfied
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are solving many problems and needs of different company areas, for example accounting management, sales accounts, performance management, and we have strongly improved many needs of information to the external users, for example sales agents. We have also used Cognos "packages" to improve data quality and data integration in out organizations, that have different data base and some ERP

Unique quality when reporting based on business intelligence.
What do you like best about the product?
We can mention that I like this system because it provides a graphical user interface for the creation of reports, which is totally easy, offering flexibility in its use when we refer to general terms, as well as learning and understanding the functionality. of the software as such, including when developing an analysis, as long as users understand the data that is provided by the service, without excluding that one of the points why I love Cognos is because of the authoring environment, which is designed to adopt complicated formats with somewhat inconsistent sources of information.
What do you dislike about the product?
The creation environment that is based on the web, is somewhat slow, which delays the work within the platform in a significant way, offering us low productivity, mentioning that it becomes slower with the constant growth of the size of the data, that is, the more information is attached to the online digital site, the less work performance we can exert, being a large-scale problem that requires a design update on its home page.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Cognos in our platform as one of the main business intelligence tools, for the generation of continuous reports and beneficiaries, including to satisfy all the needs with analytical areas for our clients that are considered as potential, since this software allows them our users to create and distribute these brief documents in a safe and effective way, with valuable information for us, since in the same way it allows us to analyze these contextual news to find knowledge for the convenience of the company for better decision-making.

IBM Cognos is excellently suited to the systems analyst for large markets, be it telecommunications, extensive retail chains, financial institutions, and among other fundamental organizations that use this software, as it offers a great capacity to access the data with multiple dimensions that are totally necessary for a coherent decision making in any business establishment, without excluding that this system is adapted for both high-grade category companies as well as medium and small ones.

This software has quite prevalent and formidable functions, one of these is the authoring of self-service reports, I like the great dashboard visualization offered by this system with artificial intelligence, when running its services on the platform of some organization, mentioning that maintains data security when preparing panels in case of any loss, or if you decide to alter them in any way, presenting an ease of navigation in all its creation interfaces.
What do you dislike about the product?
We can consider that it would be of great support to users who use Ibm Cognos a possibility of running multiple windows at the same time within a subset, in order to speed up the performance and productivity process on the platform, which the software does not have. this tool of necessary use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Ibm Cognos in our organization essentially to send reports in PDF, Excel or html to individual emails or for users to run their analyzes already carried out and processed, most of all for a proper choice of these documents, this quite powerful tool It gives us access to manipulate and generate them from large amounts of data that it provides us, including that we also use it for business intelligence, offering us very prudent business alternatives which are impossible to reject.

This software is perfect when we go to the reporting and analysis branch, mentioning that it works much better when it is given access to larger and more interpretive data, being the total key to success for companies that require these formats for your daily news to the different departments that you acquire or whether in your consent the utility they wish to give you, available for all business organizations, from small to medium and large.

What do you like best about the product?
It has integration with with other IBM products like business intelligence. Easy to access and gives you required insights. I love working with this tool from IBM. It allows some SQL language, and some configuration features that are very good too. The user interface is pretty good. Easily integrating with most of the ERPs, very good for customizing reports, very detailed reporting. I was able to develop reports in report studio that gave the user the ability to pick what type of report they wanted (YTD, YTD vs LYTD, MTD, etc.). It has modules that help both end users and report writers. Cognos Analytics provides a high degree of governance and automation which facilitates the delivery of information in a mid size organisation. The current version also offers flexibility for new data exploration and analytics. The product does everything we need it to do, from governed reporting to self-service dashboards using governed sets of data.
What do you dislike about the product?
Creating reports is overwhelming at the beginning, and deployments is a thing that needs to be worked on. Interactive pdf is not available for reports.Tough to learn & not many resources available, you will get the value of the money invested in it only if you are able to get the most out of it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Creating report is one of the best complete solution for delivering insights from data at enterprise level, worked on multiple domains. Bulk migrations between environments can be completed easily and upgrades are accomplished in-place with no issues.

Since the introduction of Cognos Analytics, business has never been better. We don't care about it or its characteristics.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Is one of the largest corporate intelligence networks. The main purpose of the program is to search a certain set of data and to extract relevant details from the data spider web. With its comprehensive and detailed logical approach, it has solved several problems and difficult situations. The program was an enormous resource for this function and the ability to make decisions more effective. The data collected can provide a better insight into the data in helpful views.

Cognos is incredibly helpful in collecting new and amazing market knowledge from existing data. There are strong advantages and new improvements are growing in the applications. The arsenal of this is an extremely powerful weapon.
