Great product at affordable price point. Nice integration with other Solarwinds suite tools also.
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to install.
Easy to upgrade (this has really improved in last few years with automated installation pkg that does all products, if multiple owned, in 1 single operation.)
Integration with MS DHCP servers is very simple and correlates your DHCP DB info with IPAM.
Search history for what devices have occupied in past is nice too.
Since we use several other Solarwinds products this is a nice plug in and is a massive upgrade over static Excel files (can get data from SNMP, WMI, DCHP and DNS)
Like the we can pull ARP cache from edge routers for example to ensure that NAT mapped addresses are also properly allocated (difficult otherwise)

What do you dislike about the product?
I struggle with creating certain entries that cannot be overwritten (it is either on for scanning and fields can be overwritten or off for scanning and your customizations are locked in but you could have stale data because scanning is disabled.
Also, we have a huge environment so dragging and dropping folders with networks into custom parent folders is tedious - this could be vastly improved (painful for me)

Near real time data vs old school static Excel files.
Able to not only ID whether IP is free, used, reserved but put many details (DNS name, mac address, OS (snmp/wmi) etc
This allows our entire IT team to quickly trace an IP down to a user or device

Reliable Monitoring Tool
What do you like best about the product?
Orion allows my team to go about our day-to-day and cuts down on having to check each device on our platform manually.
What do you dislike about the product?
On occasion, the wrong distribution list would get the alarms, but that was not the fault of the application per se, as much as it is making sure your organization has a detailed notification plan mapped out before settings your orion polling engine.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our Telecom team relies on Orion to send alerts when voice nodes rebooted, were up or down, or reset. This allowed us to jump to action during work-hours as soon as those alarms came into our Distribution list. The same alarms, were also visible by our NOC, so that 24/7 monitoring could successfully occur. I have suggested setting up a Service Now workflow to receive these alarm notifications to trigger ticket flows as well, that is something that can easily be leveraged with this tool.

SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor
What do you like best about the product?
It works right out of the box. Core monitoring such as availability, CPU, memory, interfaces, and volumes are done out of the box.
What do you dislike about the product?
To display non-out-of-the-box information, we need to know SolarWinds Query Language (SWQL) or SQL.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Make sure the SLAs are met for different functional areas of the infrastructure. If there are any issues, we can drill in to find the cause.
