Continually Learning with TM1
What do you like best about the product?
The flexibility in creating and refreshing reports is the most functional capability of the tool. The web access and speed of working on the web is helpful for users. The cloud access and use of Perspectives is a very important component to us.
What do you dislike about the product?
The subset editor and the lack of consistency from one form of using TM1 to another. Also the naming and rebranding is confusing. Users have a tough time keeping up with the changes that are given in the various formats.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Hosts our financial data and forecasts. The hosting of that data enables the ability to generate and create many reports with ease.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Attend continuing education to continually stay on top of all that the software has to offer.

TM1 Product Review
What do you like best about the product?
I personally love the DBRW functionality they make life so much easier when you can link multiple workbooks together and with one change of a dimension you can update all the workbooks together.
What do you dislike about the product?
I am not a huge fan of PAX I find it rather confusing at times and then I just don't really like the layout look.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are strengthening the forecasting and budget process with it, every day making life a little easier by tying up loose ends and working through outdated materials.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Practice the DBRW's because once you are able to create workbooks that use them to the maximum capability they can completely transform your business and drive how you will make decisions.
PA for Finance and Operations
What do you like best about the product?
My favorite feature of PA is that you can keep the best features of excel and harness a powerful database to eliminate all the things that are difficult about excel (data integrity, data consolidation and lengthy planning and reporting cycles). I also like that the product is a blank slate and is 100% customized to your business needs.
What do you dislike about the product?
Since PA is a blank slate, if not implemented by an experienced professional who understands the architecture (not all partners are equal) it can become a mess. Be sure to vet your partner and make sure they have the level of experience required
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Financial planning, reporting and consolidation. Forecasting and budgeting. Financial consolidations and eliminations. Operational reporting. Business modeling.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Choose PA! I would recommend PA to anyone. It can be used in many areas of your business not just financial planning so has a greater ROI.
IBM Planning Analytics for Excel is the killer app for finance and accounting users
What do you like best about the product?
IBM Planning Analytics for Excel is the killer app for finance and accounting users. I say this because finance and accounting professionals love Excel and hate any initiative to pull them out of Excel, no matter how benevolent the cause is and how helpful it is to the broader enterprise. WIth a successful PAX implementation, finance and accounting can remain 100% in Excel and the organization still unlocks insights from their contribution quickly and easily.
What do you dislike about the product?
I am not aware of a way to have multiple "custom views" on a single spreadsheet with dimensions being sync'd, as is available in PAW. The addition of this would function would make it incredibly powerful. Also, I am not aware of a way to "rebuild" custom sheets (for new elements) without needing to use VBA in conjunction with MDX queries.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are in evaluation mode, ready to pilot. Our organization does EVERYTHING in Excel - we want a way to capture all of the data that lives in Excel to revolutionize our analytics, deliverables, and decision-support.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Really understand the business requirements first to ensure it is the right fit.
IBM Planning Analytics Simplified Our Budget
What do you like best about the product?
The PAW and PAX interfaces are easy to use and made reviewing and adjusting the budget easier.
What do you dislike about the product?
Setting up clients when starting up our cloud environment took some adjusting as an admin.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Better visibility our financial and sales budgets. Also improved sales reporting.
The best software for Business Modeling, needs more investment
What do you like best about the product?
PA provides best in class flexibility for business modeling. It provides users a flexible way to interact with and change their data in real time at scale. When compared to its competitors TM1 continues to scale better than popular alternatives like Anaplan
What do you dislike about the product?
TM1 is showing its age and still lags behind competitors when it comes to User Interfaces. While changes are coming, they simply do not show up quick enough. The focus on new users and ease of adoption leaves enterprise customers feeling like 2nd class. Additionally, IBM's paid strategy has made adoption and trial a challange for new users. Without a developer addition of the software there will continue to be a lack of skill set in the market.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
PA can be used to solve almost any problems in the office of finance. Planning, Analysis, and Reporting, if you can dream it you can probably build it.

Functionality and performance do not disappoint!
What do you like best about the product?
The new integration with excel via Planning Analytics for Excel and increased performance when loading large sets of data has been instrumental in our planning and forecasting processes and analysis. The visualizations provided by PAW have greatly enhanced our user experience as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
The subset editor is a little clunky at first to get used to.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
All forecasting from Sales, Margin, Inventory to Departmental Expenses. We have provided the ability to easily access data, receive inputs, and customize viewings by business area as needed.
