Good performance but requires some skills to develop

  • February 11, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
OLAP engine has good performance if the developer knows what she/he is doing. You are able to do all kinds of stuff with TM1/PA, therefore you can create and combine all kinds of different models into one holistic planning solution.
What do you dislike about the product?
Age has started to show in the product, although workspace has been a good addition of late. Lack of version control and modern development tools is bit of a drawback especially for new developers. If you have gotten used to Architect, it's not that big of a problem.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Financial planning, budgetig, forecasting, HR planning, Sales and operations planning. OLAP technology is a blank canvas and you can model things the way you want.

IBM Planning TM1 Review

  • February 11, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The TM1 engine's performance is amazing. Data retrievals are extraordinary fast. TM1 object migration is very simple.
What do you dislike about the product?
We have been having challenges resolving application security vulnerabilites. Security has been a priority for our company and getting vulnerabilties resolved takes quite some time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With Planning Analytics, we are creating a global platform. Because of TM1's performance latency in the past, we were not able to achieve this. Now with the Planning Analytics platform, we are able to get all our TM1 regional instances into 1 platform.

Planning Analytics User Experience

  • February 11, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Workspace is really good and it gives a good edge when organisations do their enterprise planning. It is easy to use and visualize data in order organisations can get a glimpse of their business rapidly.
What do you dislike about the product?
it would be good if you can organise your TI process more proper manner, for example use some kind of folder structure for TI Processes. We know that workspace is still under development and we have found some bugs from the product but IBM is doing a good job to tackle these issues. For example we have faced issues with the scandinavic letters etc.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using PA for budgeting and forecasting and also modelling organisation business. If we compare PA to TM1, the biggest benefits are related to alternative hierarchies, better user experience and enhanced Excel add-on Planning Analytics for Excel.

A Greater Product

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
IBM Planning Analytics changes the way that Budgeting can be faced by a Company. It take more agility, networking, security, and the capacity to do more with less. The reports are very easy do do and customize. We can interact with contributors with a Contribution Flow, builing roles very fast, working with very big Cubes with milions of data.
What do you dislike about the product?
Just little points can be improved. One point is the product price. Another great point is the establish of IBM Cloud. We have faced some problems in SaaS enviroment. We can figure out some problems with people that feel better with Excel spread Sheet. So is important do workshops in the project Start.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are solving problems in Health Care, Automotive and Finance Industries. We delivered solutions that the costumers can work with scenarios, spreading budget, and bottom line optmization. For the automotive industry we delivery I Planning Solution that plan the number of cars that they need do product in a month. For the heathy care industry we do a budget apllication that controls the medicine consults. For the Finance we develop an apllication that support the new products delivery and controls credit risk and operation risk. For the civil constrution we delivery an apllicant that controls the gross margin for each apartment that they build.

More than just a budget and simulation platform

  • February 11, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The IBM Planning Analytics platform is robust and evolving according to the needs of its users. It has brought to the planning universe more than just a way of working with calculations and scenario simulations. The visual with which the data is viewed has helped significantly the presentation of results. Is a platform that delivers what you want when it comes to data volume and speed of processing.
What do you dislike about the product?
The process of application construction is not very intuitive in the view of the end user. I believe this is directly linked to feeders. Performance Modeler, despite having come up with a proposal to facilitate construction, the end result for larger projects can be frustrating in terms of maintenance and migration. Currently there are several client server applications that make the implementation and maintenance process extremely confusing. I understand that the client server tools will be discontinued because they are still distributed to new clients, even in the cloud.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As a consultant who has been working with the platform for some years, I have been able to help my clients using specific methodologies to implement optimization algorithms in order to guarantee the best combinations of results. Basically I have integrated my results optimization solutions to the Planning Analytics platform and through a methodology that I developed over the course of a few years, results previously impossible are now the reality of my clients.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Work hard to eliminate 'feeders'.

Planning Analytics Workspace - High Adoption

  • October 04, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Moving from TM1 Websheets to PAW has been a tremendous success. We have been using our existing TM1 websheets for over 5 years and while they were sufficient for our needs, we had many users asking about new functionality or enhancements over time. With PAW, we have been able to transform the user experience...gaining speed and functionality we have not seen before. Transitioning our websheets was relatively quick and adoption was extremely high. Within 30 min we had our users comfortable with the new process.
What do you dislike about the product?
As like most new applications, there are some features which are not currently available (but on the IBM roadmap). IBM has been extremely helpful in guiding us to "workarounds" for the time being which in which are not transparent to the end users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are moving past traditional numeric data input sheets to supplementing with visualizations in the same screen. This allows users to quickly see the impact of input as they are planning their numbers. In addition, the ad hoc capabilities have been useful for our power users.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Great product with features you can not find with other systems.

What do you like best about the product?
I like the ease of which reports can be created
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like the static nature of subsets. If a new GL account is added others might not include that GL if they had previously created a subset prior to that addition.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
budgeting and forecasting is the problem we are solving. we have discovered efficiency over organic homegrown Excel budgeting.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Compatibility with Google sheets
